You’ll stay in a detached, pet-free forest bungalow that was fully renovated in 2025, located in the heart of the Drents Friese Wold. This luxury home accommodates up to five people and sits on a spacious 2,000 m² lot with private forest paths and a pond. From the garden, you can walk directly into the forest or onto the heath, where peace and nature take center stage. Inside, you’ll enjoy underfloor heating, a cozy gas fireplace, and a modern kitchen with a Boretti oven and a dishwasher. After an active day, relax in the wood-fired sauna (available as an optional add-on) or in the comfortable bathroom with a bathtub and separate shower. The home features a spacious master bedroom with a double bed, a second bedroom with two single beds, and a third bedroom with a loft bed. In the immediate vicinity of Wateren, you’ll discover the Drents Friese Wold National Park, one of the largest contiguous nature reserves in the Netherlands. Here, vast forests, heathlands, and shifting sand dunes alternate. The Aekingerzand, also known as the Kale Duinen, and Lake Canada are about three kilometers away and are perfect for a walk, bike ride, or a picnic by the water. For shopping, a terrace, or lunch, you can visit towns like Appelscha, Diever, and Dwingeloo, each with its own character and charming village center. Assen and Meppel are also easily accessible for a day trip to the city.
